This is a historical case file, 2020–present: the platform described here is no longer live, and what follows is an architecture account, not a product to visit. A climate-investment platform needed a technology architecture and a working MVP, directed through an external development team rather than an in-house engineering organization -- the constraint the whole build had to work around.

Architecting the stack meant selecting the vendors an external development team would build against, then designing and building the webapp MVP of the product itself. Because the platform's value depended on data it didn't hold, an API strategy was designed for its counter-parties -- administrators, fund managers, and data providers -- and, alongside it, a proprietary analytic approach was co-created for evaluating external fund managers: the platform's own view on the managers it connected to.

What I'd do differently: keep a smaller in-house core team earlier, rather than depending entirely on an external development team for delivery -- architecture decisions travel faster when the people making them can also build directly against them.
